It's never too late.

Today I went to a networking breakfast called, "A Breakfast with Margo." Marjorie "Margo" Bates was the speaker and will be 100 years old this coming November.  I was lucky enough to interview her before the breakfast and get an insight into her life and all that she has accomplished over here near century on earth.  Her most proud accomplishments are her 15 World and National records from competitive swimming, along with 198 gold medals.  She is the only woman in the world to complete the backstroke in the 95 age group bracket.  She was part of the opening ceremony in the 2009 Sydney world games, part of the competition taking home seven gold medals, and was asked back to be a part of the closing ceremony as well.  BTW, did I mentioned she learned how to swim at the ripe young age of 80?  Before then she only knew how to doggie paddle...

One of her favorite sayings is, "Don't ever call me old unless there is a G in front of it," and she has a ritual of painting her finger and toe nails sparkly gold before swim competitions.

This woman is so full of life and there is nothing she can't do or isn't willing to at least try.  After 100 years on earth, she believes in living each day to its fullest potential and most of all she believes in herself. Talk about an inspiration!  And she's funny too!

Fashionista.

Most of my life I have been a t-shirt and jeans kinda girl.  I enjoy dressing up every now and again, but when it comes down to it I like simplicity and comfort when it comes to clothes.  I never really thought much about fashion, especially runway fashion.  The only thing I really thought about runway fashion was how out there it was and who in the real world really wears clothes like that. Or could afford them for that matter.

Things have changed recently.  With more time on my hands to explore my creative side, I have been reading a lot more - books and fashion magazines.  I have been painting, beading, and blogging. With the internet making anything you could possibly imagine accessible at the drop of a hat, I have become addicted to the world of blogging. More particularly, fashion, photography and food blogs.  I can't get enough. Fashion, music, art, food, photography... all art forms blurred together and now I find myself obsessed.  Obsessed.  I quote, "You like blogging more than you like me..." - the bf. Silence.

Well I don't reaaaally. I mean, well...

Alright, I'm joking but its pretty up there with things I love at the moment. And now I am obsessed with fashion. Reading, blogging, subscriptions to shop it to me and all things alike.  I guess its a good thing because I'm still in my twenties and its not too late...

Things I'm into. Vintage. Blondes. Summer colored nail polish (all year round). Big jewelry. Chanel. Shorts or skirts with ankle boots. Crochet suits. Corset tube tops. Did I say Chanel? Trains. Big hair. Tribal. White lace. Faux Fur. Stripes.

Always remember to check out the views...

Words of advice I live by from my Dad.  I know lots of people say this about their own fathers, but I really do think my Dad is the most wonderful man in the world.  With his laid back attitude, he doesn't take life to seriously and lives each day to the fullest always remaining positive and really just darn right happy.  He has helped show me the way thus far and for that, a toast to him and all his love and support he has given me over the years. Cheers. xxx

Happy Father's Day.

... and yes, I had no hair until I was 4 but my Dad said I was too pretty to ever look like a boy :-)
